SAMPLE POST:
Everything about the Hogwarts castle enraptured Alexis and no matter how much she missed her family back home, she wouldn't have given it up for anything. The atmosphere of the school just worked perfectly to make Alexis feel at ease, despite the overwhelming amount of people that were there with her. Alexis had never been the most comfortable around other people and even from a young age had shied away from being around more than just a few people that she was already close to. For that reason, Alexis typically sought out places to relax that didn't have many people wandering around that she would have to interact with. It wasn't so much that she didn't like people, just that they scared her. She had a crippling shyness and that kept her from having too many friends to hang out with.
That afternoon, she had finished off with her classes and was now about to go find something to occupy herself. Typically, that meant picking up her sketch book and hiding away in some sort corner of the grounds to wait for some creature to walk by for her to draw. Drawing and animals were her two passions and if she wasn't in class or working on some sort of schoolwork, that was exactly what she found herself doing. At times, one of the few friends that she talked to tried to get her to go out, but she often declined the offer. Going out and being around crowds of people was just too intimidating and she didn't want to ruin anyone's plans by being a complete mess while out. So, Alexis found it easiest to just flee the commons rooms before anyone came around, since she hated saying no to people.
Quickly gathering a small bag full of the essential things that she would need to get out of the castle for awhile, Alexis prepared to make her escape. Tossing the bag up onto her shoulder and hugging her sketchbook to her chest, she lightly dashed up the staircase and into the Great Hall. Very rarely when she made the trip outside did she actually know where she was headed and today was no exception. Alexis was the type that liked to explore and to discover new things around the castle. By now, she had been there long enough that it was pretty impossible sometimes to find somewhere new, but that didn't stop her from making the effort. She was a hopeful type of person and liked to think that there would always be something new just around the corner.
Her feet fell lightly on the ground as she slowly wandered out onto the grounds. It was a fairly chilly day and there weren't all too many people out, which made her feel much more at ease with herself. There were some days when there were just too many people out there and Alexis instead fled into her dormitory and cuddled up under the covers, but fortunately today wasn't one of those days. Today was quite possibly one of the most perfect days that she had seen in awhile and she was quite excited to just find herself a place to settle down. Nothing jumping out at her immediately, Alexis ventured out a bit further into the grounds, her eyes glancing about in search for somewhere comfortable.
A few feet further into the distance, a small tree was situated just a few paces away from the forest. While she was intimidated by the forest and would never dream of entering into it, it was possibly the best possible place to find the animals that she loved to sketch so much. Walking over to it with a bit of excitement showing on her face, Alexis settled down near the tree and flipped her sketchbook open to a clean page. There weren't any animals in the near vicinity as of yet, so she simply leaned back against the tree and took to watching the edge of the forest. Some may have found it to be incredibly boring, but to Alexis it was the exact opposite. It was calm, quiet and she didn't have to worry about anyone judging her as she waited there. For Alexis, this was the perfect moment of peace. .
